Continuing Flex Period in the 2025-2026 School Year at AHS

Flex in high school is important to me because it gives me time to breathe, catch up, and stay organized. School can get really overwhelming, and having that extra time during the day helps me reset. I can use it to finish homework, study for a test, or even just relax for a minute and get my thoughts together. It’s like a built-in break that helps me manage everything better and not fall behind. Honestly, without flex, I’d probably feel more stressed and less in control of my schedule.

Keep flex.

As a student athlete this time is necessary for me to catch up on work and see our athletic trainer before practice.

I love having Flex Time to catch up on work. As a student with adhd, I struggle to utilize my class time. Flex Time is a huge way for me to give myself time to focus on my work and really understand the material in my classes. I learn best when I’m able to get a deep dive of my work myself. The argument of “just do your work at home” is a concept that not all students can do. When I get home I have my extracurriculars and my job to focus on, also worth mentioning I have a big family with littles I help take care of on the regular. I appreciate the ability to have time at school for late work or just simply that privilege of time to deep dive into the subject I’m learning in a class. Taking away flex would leave a huge disadvantage on many students at school. I’ve been to so many schools in my life and none have had the opportunities that Ashley so greatly gives. Flex is one of those and letting other students who misuse the time given for flex ruin the privilege for the people who need it is cruel.

I’m a student athlete who uses flex as a important time for studying and doing schoolwork I’m in the marching band and I’m on the softball team ik a lot of people use flex to skip but a lot of us actually use it maturely and need this time

My daughter has used Flex to work on missing assignments, finish a test she couldn’t finish in class, study, and go to Eagle Buddies. As a parent, I do not want flex to be cut as this will impact all of those elements. Please consider keeping this and not taking it away from the kids. I feel that school is vastly different from when I was in school and just more and more keeps being taken away from the students.

My child relied on this period for extra help, catch up and club meetings. To get rid of this flex period is a significant disservice to our children!!!

Lowkey mess with flex, would hate to see it removed because of a few bad apples especially if it’s an overall good bunch.

Maybe if yall actually took time to give direct punishment to skippers it wouldn’t happen so often. You guys are very good on watching for skippers the first and a little of the last months of school and then you guys get lazy and stop going outside to stop anyone. If you guys are so worried about people skipping maybe the admins or the teachers who are doing absolutely nothing that period can actually go outside instead of doing nothing but “grading” at their desk ( really just watching YouTube or doing something else stupid )

Please keep flex because although there are students that don’t use the time wisely and end up leaving campus or fool around, there are kids like me that use that time wisely to get missing work or incomplete work done!!
