I was there when UAB played its first club football game under coach Hilyer. I was there when they played the game at Rickwood Field. I was there the first time the Blazers were going to play Southern Miss on EPSN and you could barely get through the traffic to Legion Field. I remember the night the Blazers beat a Nick Saban coached LSU team in Baton Rouge. These are all good memories of a team and program that has perservered through adversity from day one. How sad and wrong it would be for it to be dismantled now that it has the right coach, momentum and the support it has always deserved. I implore the powers that be to end the confusion and doubt and endorse the UAB athletic program %100.

It's not just about football. If football is gone, other sports will follow. It will be hard to stay in a respectable conference without all sports in tact.

Former Marshall football player here, played against the Blazers last year before transferring to ETSU, who is in the process of bringing football back. It took over 20 years. Great staff and players, would be a disappointment to see it go.

To a large degree, I owe my career in journalism to UAB football. Gene Bartow was one of the greatest men I have ever known, and he knew how important UAB football would be to the school and the city. This dream cannot die.

My husband and I are UAB alumni, and he played football for UAB. He knows firsthand the corruption that has taken place by the UABOT. UAB football can and will thrive if given the opportunities that have been limited because of Bear Bryant Jr. and the BOT.

The actions taken by the Alabama Board of Trustees are unacceptable and unbelievably corrupt. Especially at a time where this program is starting to experience success!

Taking away football takes away from the entire city. You're denying an education and a chance to playa sport, cheer a cheer, dance a dance, play an instrument and succeed. You're denying an education, a diploma and a wonderful career by taking away the football program. Taking away that program with only have apocalyptic affects on this campus and the city that surrounds it. Taking a way of getting an education is the most heartless thing anyone could do. What if that football player found a cure for cancer here at UAB? This school gives so many a chance and I'd hate to see a progr die for some unknown reason. Sam Hunt is now a very popular musician and he was also the quarter back in '07 for UAB. He shines such a positive light on this school and he's just one example of what could be by keeping this program. We have a celebrity alum who still loves this school and still shows support and is actually fighting for UAB football. Taking it away takes away amazing talent from every direction.
