I am current undergrad student at UAB and proud to be a blazer. It deeply saddens me to the news of our football program being shut down. Every school should be given the chances to play; but UA BOT think otherwise. This is to me is more than just football. This is about UAB cry for freedom from UA. Our leadership failed us ( Ray Watts). Ray Watts is clueless if he thinks this wont ruin UAB. We need to keep protesting and keep fighting for our freedom. We did not fail today, Ray Watts failed us. Blazer nation lets keep fighting for our freedom. It is TIME...... to release the Dragon!

This is MY team. This is MY school. This is where MY heart is. I spent four seasons standing on the sidelines of Legion Field cheering on ours boys in the rain or shine, through the wins and losses, and through the days I was tired and sick. I did it, because this school means more to me than football, or dance, or education. This school is a college experience. I've spent four years trying to explain to people that there is student life on this campus, and you get out of UAB what you put into it, but today I was proven wrong. Today's decision showed me that I had been preaching something that is no longer going to be true. The football players, cheerleaders, golden girls, and marching band all put their hearts, souls, blood, sweat, and tears into those Saturdays, and into the practice and prep time leading up to those Saturdays. Today, I did not get back from UAB what I had put in. All that time, dedication, and heart that I poured into to this school were not reciprocated. Instead, something was taken away. It is my belief that a University should never take from its students. This decision has cost so many so much. My heart goes out to the three programs that were dropped today, but also to those other programs (Golden Girls, Cheerleaders, and Band) that will be affected in their coming seasons.

This really hurts! I love to watch and sund support our football team! I also love performing at halftime with the Marching Blazers! I would love to be able to do it again next school year!

This has nothing to do with money. It is all about POWER! Look at the Taj Mahal they keep adding on to in Tuscaloosa. You know the UAB Health System funnels plenty of money to Tuscaloosa. The UAB Football program is finally getting some recognition, and then shut it down?? Power mongers can't stand that.

i am not an alumni however this sickens me. It is the poorest example of a school "attempting" to invest in the students future.
