There should be no question about UAB coutinuing football and a contract extension for the best coach since Jim Hilyer. Mackin should be able to schedule games beyond 2016 or recruiting will go to heck in a hand basket. It would be very stupid on the administrations part to not accept the outside help on capital improvements. That would only be beneficial to the university as a whole..

A football team is an integral part of the student and alumni experience. It keeps alumni engaged and encourages active participation with school by the greater community. Too long has UAB been subject to the controls of the Crimson Tide and their power. UAB offers a wonderful experience for those who attend, and they should not be stripped of their football team simply because those in power went to another school. Further, UAB is a member of a great conference, CUSA, and has really made some great strides with its program in the past year, including a better record and greatly increased attendance (the latter bucking the national trend). I certainly hope that UAB is not robbed of their team by the rash or hateful decisions by those in power.

UAB Football is a vital part of the campus life and the campus experience for students. There is no reason for UAB Football to be taking away for purely selfish reasons.

Joe Volker's dream cannot be allowed to end this way, smothered by the petty and the corrupt.
