UAB class of '82. My whole family is, in one way or another, connected to UAB. My husband and I both graduated from UAB. My oldest son recently graduated from there after playing in the band for 4 years! My youngest son is set to graduate next Fall. He has been in the UAB Band program for 3 years. We are a UAB family!!! I have even introduced the football program to several friends who come to tailgate and cheer every home game. Please support Birmingham's team by not dropping the football program. Now that we have a coach that is committed to building the program and we've had a winning season, extend his contract and let him take the program to the next level. Legion Field is a historic facility, but it's not what we need to build a football program and fan support. Alumni need a place to "come home to" and students need a place that they can call there on. A place that's within walking distance to the dorm!

You CANNOT take away UAB football. I'm not even a UAB fan, but I know this would hurt the city of Birmingham and the university.

As a 6th year member of the Marching Blazers, I've seen the ups and downs of this program. My Freshman year we had Joe Webb and unfortunately Neil Callaway also. We ended that year 5-7 I believe, and I hope that this year doesn't end the same. After Callaway, I had to endure the "rise" and fall of Garrick McGee. He sure could talk a big game and get the students motivated (at least the speach he gave to the band motivated us) but then just kept digging the grave that Callaway started. Now we have Coach Clark, who not only just flat out knows how to win, based on previous records, but also cares about the team, school, band, and students. Like he said, he wouldn't have left his Alma Mater (JSU) to come to UAB if he didn't believe in this program.
