As a UAB and Marching Blazers alumna, as well as a former UAB Athletic Department employee, I know first-hand the importance of UAB football to the university and the city of Birmingham. One of the main reasons I transferred to UAB was because of football and the marching band. My college experience at UAB would not have been the same without Saturday football games. My favorite memories and some of my best friends were made during my time with the Marching Blazers. After I graduated and was hired by the athletic department, my colleagues and I poured our hearts and soul into the football program and other sports at UAB. We worked tirelessly to support a program that we believe in without hesitation, and I would do it all again. Please don't eliminate this integral piece of Birmingham, UAB, and its faithful alumni and fan base.

This is about more than football. There are other students involved int he program and actually have scholarships they wouldn't have were it not for the football program (music/band). UAB and Birmingham need to work together and fix this once and for all. GO BLAZERS

As a student at UAB who has been actively participating in campus events and student life for years, I am incredibly disheartened by the future prospects of my university's athletic and community culture. Witnessing the vast growth of my campus and it's presence in the area, it would be a grave disservice to students, alumni, the city of Birmingham, and the state of Alabama to hinder the growth of a vibrant and successful football program. Go Blazers and #freeUAB.

im on ColorGuard at Uab so if the football team is lost we loose the marching Blazers along with the color guard, majorettes and blazerettes.
