Proudly hold two degrees from UAB, taught there and worked there many years. Football helped bring the campus a more college residential feel for traditional students. Cheerleaders band etc added to the feeling of belonging to my alma mater. Don't shut it down. Expand it. The University will reap the rewards if you do.

The reason I came to UAB was because they had a football team. It has been an exciting year watching our team come so far. Continuing the football team will add in the expansion of our University and give a boost to the bowling and womens rifles, marching band, majorettes and cheerleaders, flag line and danceline. By eliminating the football program look what you have also lost. Students will go elsewhere to meet their needs and without football where will the alumni gather for tailgating and talk about money to give to the University. The decision to drop football is a very short sighted decision in my opinion.

It isnt fair Mr. President, give em the chance. They come from all over to play the sport they love, they reject other places to come play in Birmingham, yet you end it like this. Numbers don't worry, this program is a good program, even bowl eligible. You need to understand that for some of these kids football is a way of relief and a way to get away from the other bad things in life. These young men committed themselves to UAB and you Mr. President had a commitment to them.
keep football going for UAB
