UAB athletics is a good thing for Birmingham! I have been following UAB football since their very first club football game and want to see the program continue on and reach new heights!

THIS IS A CRYIN SHAME!! If UAB drops football than Tuscaloosa should have to drop football too. As I see it, if there's a lack of interest in BIRMINGHAM, then OBVIOUSLY the wrong folks are running and promoting the program. Those slackers need to be eliminated. ALSO, the BOT needs to be deballed. They have no interest in UAB. Their nixing Jimbo Fisher was gross mismanagement, and those grayhaired dufusses need to be tarred and feathered. The fact that this is even a discussion is sad. We need to put our blame where it BELONGS and FIX UAB FOOTBALL. A new on campus stadium is the logical first step.
Birmingham is a STRONG City that should be proud of its Sports, Sports History and Its Heritage. I feel UAB should be a Great Football Program and start to keep on trucking with either keeping Legion Field in some financially operable shape or find a way to go into the Community to build a replacement to Legion Field. I'd want to see safe stadiums no matter who the program is and I don't want to see Birmingham fall off of Texas Football like it did Stock Cars. And, I'd like to see UAB win National Titles in 2040, not be folded or sold off.

It is a sad state of affairs. UAB & UAH are continually treated like unwanted stepchildren of the "University of Alabama" collegiate alliance. We All Know That The Monies Accumulated By UAT Football is More Than Abundant and the BOT constantly has to find 'appropriate' ways to Utilize those funds. The 'Collegiiate 'Atmosphere' at UAT IS What I would refer to as 'Overabundant'. With the extreme success of the football and the gymnastics programs amongst others which are well funded. It only makes sense that "Theiir Board" makes certain that UAT is held up to the highest standards possible in order to compete with the other SEC Schools when it comes to recruitment .

Clearly the BOT is worried about the future of UAT. The total economic Impact of UAT in Alabama in 2013 was $2.6 billion including football. The total economic impact of UAB in Alabama was greater than $5 billion. These numbers are from the University of Alabama Center for Business and Economic Research, so they are probably wrong. I would put a lot more faith in UAB research numbers. UAT is the tail wagging the dog. When they kill football, it will make us ineligible to be in CUSA. That means all sports, including basketball, get a life sentence.
