The "powers that be" are being heavy-handed in this matter. More competition, bring it on! There is plenty of room for more good southern football competition.

Far too long has the UA board of trustees hamstrung any opportunity UAB athletics have had for serious growth and advancement in football, or any other sport UA feels threatened by. I've always been a proud supporter of the Crimson Tide and don't understand why they feel that the two schools can't both be allowed to grow to their full potential in a mutually beneficial manner. As a UAB alum it is disappointing to see such an amazing school with so much potential treated so poorly by those it financially and academically. It's high time UAB has their chance to grow without being shackled by Tuscaloosa

this is about SO much more than just football...dropping the program would absolutely GUT the entire athletics department as well as KILL the 20-year tradition of the Marching Blazer Band, the "Sound of the Magic City"

We are finally having a good year and the team looks great. The coaching is better and the players seem more excited. Students are talking about us as well as adults in the community of Birmingham. This is crazy and needs to stop. The University of Alabama @ TTown needs to let us be free from their guidance. They have destroyed our football program and now we are winning they want to officially get rid of it. What a bunch of shit. As an Alabama fan, I am ashamed of that school and their administration. FREE UAB

A new stadium is all it would take to bring the fans to UAB football. If you build it, they will come.
