I hold an undergraduate degree from the University of Alabama and a graduate degree from UAB. I was born and raised in Birmingham growing up with UAB from an extension center to a full fledged university. I am proud of UAB - both undergraduate and graduate/medical programs - and its contribution to the City of Birmingham. While my first loyalty lies with the Tide, I fully support the continuation of a football program at UAB. The state of Alabama lives and breathes football and there is no way this program should be cancelled. It would not be good for the students, the City or indeed the State. I live outside of Alabama now and I am asked about UAB because of the football program. There is room in the Alabama system for two teams and for a hockey team in Huntsville.

Equal representation on the UA Board of Trustees would fix most of UAB's issues. There are only 4 (of 17) Board members with ties to UAB on the Board, with only 2 of those being from an undergraduate degree.

It seems to me, you currently have one of the finest staffs you have ever had running UAB Football. It would be a sham to shut it down now. In coming years, they are going to have a product on the field that people will come watch and support.

I really hope a way for UAB's football program to remain is realized, but with the fine leadership of the city of Birmingham it is a miracle that it lasted 20 years..
