UAB Football program should not be terminated!!!! Why in the world is this even being considered?!? The Trustees do not speak for or represent the average citizen of the state of Alabama. In fact I am positive it is safe to assume they in no way understand that this program is an integral part of the University, Birmingham and Alabama.

Paul Bryant Jr. and a large number of representatives of UA have never wanted UAB to have any athletics and to remain the UASOM. Each one of these near extinct members of the Board of Trustees have never liked or pretended to like Gene Bartow and his creation of UAB athletics. Our football program in Birmingham is right at 100 years younger than the two Titans of the state. If you look at the growth rate of support in a state that is clearly biased on the two teams they choose to cheer for. Now in Paul Bryant Jr.'s final days on the board he is wanting his last mission to protect the sanctity of his beloved Tide by putting to death a program that is clearly on the upswing in both potential to compete as well as rise in fanbase. UAB is finally at the point that some of the first graduates of UAB are sending their children to UAB with pride because of the great education we get at this institution of higher learning. With this increase we have more young fans choosing the Green and Gold over the Crimson and White and Navy and Orange. There is for the first time, a fear of losing a little of what edge the two Titans of the state has had 100 years to gain. Paul Bryant Jr. denied Jimbo Fisher the interview he sought after Watson Brown's tenure ended and he himself hired someone to carry on the Bryant Legacy of being a drunkard and coaching football. When Brian Mackin was given the opportunity to hire without the interference from the Board of Trustees he hired the first African-American coach to ever coach at an FBS school in the state of Alabama. Well , that didn't work out and our legacy of losing continued. After McGee followed in the footsteps of his mentor and left like "a thief in the night", without the integrity to at least speak personally with his student athletes that deserved at least that much Mackin hired Bill Clark who has been a proven winner at every level of football that he has coached. Not only is this a wonderful person but a caring man of not only h

This is heartbreaking to know that this could even be a possibility. I met my husband at UAB, I was a Golden Girl and he was a football player- walked on and earned a scholarship by working hard and never giving up!!! He passed away from Leukemia in 2096
