The organizers just confirmed the Youth Stage is back on the official schedule. Seeing this space saved for our kids makes every hour of fighting worth it. Thank you for ensuring our teenagers have a place to go that belongs to them.

Since 2008, the Youth Stage of the International BBQ Festival in Owensboro, Ky has been providing a safe and welcoming event for the adolescent demographic of the city/surrounding areas. The event's primary goal has been to offer festival sanctioned activities for the youth participation in an effort to reduce any illicit activities they may partake in due to neglegence or boredom. It has also offered a never before seen facet to the vast schedule of events the festival offers to the general public, at no cost to the participants. Along with the goal of offering a haven for the youth, each year, the event has drawn hundreds of festival goers that would otherwise had no incentive nor desire to attend the festival previously. This number grows each year.

You're reading this right now because the Youth Stage is in jeopardy of being dismissed by the powers that be. Even though it is providing a highly honorable benefit to the festival and city, it may not be included in the 2014 International BBQ Festival schedule. With your pledge, we may be able to show the impact the the event has had on the general populous and ensure that it can continue for many years to come. Thank you all for your help, support, and participation each year.

My own kids spent their best summer nights at this stage and I am not willing to watch it disappear without a fight. I am currently working to secure a sit-down with the board members to show them the real human impact of this decision. Their silence is disappointing but it only fuels my resolve to keep this space open for our community.

Seeing one hundred people recognize the value of this stage for our kids gives me real hope. My own children have spent so many afternoons here and I refuse to let that disappear.

My son met his best friend there back in 2012. Bad idea to get rid of it.

This stage is the only reason my kids even want to go downtown during the fest. Please keep it around.
