Within the realm of high respect for the creators and writers of Dragon Ball, this petition will outline the flaws and drawbacks of discontinuing Dragon Ball Super anime and moving forward with other projects. Most of the points made in the petition will be fact based in addition to personal accounts from multiple parties. The parties have chosen to remain anonymous due to the vibrant (and sometimes volatile) nature of Anime Fans. This petition is pure-hearted and meant to influence Toei Animation Co., Ltd into reconsidering their current courses of action including but not limited to the example of Dragon Ball DAIMA. Please also understand that this petition does not cover every animated Dragon Ball series. We are discussing the ones that are the most widespread and/or notable.

Please note that this petition's intention is NOT meant to incite rioting, boycotting or any other act of negative influence or aggression. Individuals who choose to follow that course of action will be doing so of their own accord. Additionally, the petitioning website we used to make this is nothing more than a tool and holds no responsibility for actions taken. Cited influencers, commentors and professional's opinions are simply used to reenforce points in the petition, they are not factual base.

Though it is recognized that writers of the Dragon Ball series have contributed towards the production of the anime series, this petition is firmly standing on the idea that Dragon Ball Super anime was not a finished production, and its fans would like to see its production finished before investing into a new, unrelated series. The writers will be referenced to very little throughout the petition as they are not given "the final say" in this decision-making process for the anime. Precedent will be cited later in the petition but can be easily shown in the comparison of Manga vs. Anime when Toei Animation Co., Ltd almost entirely skipped chapters 42 - 90 of the Dragon Ball Super story, which equates to potentially half of the story. In addition to the skipping of chapters, we will prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the writers have little say based on the information provided from when the anime series Dragon Ball GT was produced at a faster rate than the manga series. Please remember, we are primarily discussing the animated series not the manga.

Finally, please note and reference the alternative verbiage that will be used throughout the body of the petition for clarity.

  • DB = Dragon Ball
  • DAIMA = Dragon Ball DAIMA
  • DBS = Dragon Ball Super
  • DBZ = Dragon Ball Z
  • DBGT = Dragon Ball GT
  • TA = Toei Animation Co., Ltd

As recorded in Wikipedia, "Toei Animation produced an anime television series based on the first 194 manga chapters, also titled Dragon Ball. The series premiered in Japan on Fuji TV on February 26, 1986, and ran until April 19, 1989, lasting 153 episodes. It is broadcast in 81 countries worldwide". Due to the overwhelming, positive response to the fictional hero "Goku", his friends and adventures, DBZ was born. Also recorded in Wikipedia, "It premiered in Japan on Fuji Television on April 26, 1989, taking over its predecessor's time slot, and ran for 291 episodes until its conclusion on January 31, 1996". In addition to this information, please note the ratings for each of these animations. Modern ratings cited from IMDb, note that dates may vary based on reanimations, reworks and other factors. However, we are discussing a modern-day issue so modern-day ratings will be provided.

As you can see, these ratings are stellar in nature and can only mean that TA was successful in its mission to bring one of the greatest animated heroes to the screen. When people rate something, they are formulating a number off of their own opinions to express their satisfaction with a project. Opinions are formed and influenced through one's own experiences. These opinions then feed capital and breathe life into projects (no matter the industry). Experiences that we have recorded through multiple parties range from "because I was bored" to "it saved my very existence". The fictional, tragic, hero "Son Goku" (or "Kakarot") became much more than fiction in many individuals' hearts. Through his ascent for power, came a real inspiration to overcome any challenge; no matter how difficult life became.

Throughout history, we've seen other fictional heroes rise to this same status for other reasons; Superman, Captain America, Batman, Wonder Woman, Captain Marvel, Ironman, Black Panther and so many others. These heroes and heroines inspired, protected and calmed the real world in their times. However, rarely was this ever done with Japanese based anime characters. This is what made Goku, Vegeta and their friends so unique. However, when the essence of their being was tampered with from outside writers and/or organizational greed, the response was negative to say the least. We can see this in the next rating from DBGT, which (Wikipedia) the series premiered in Japan on Fuji TV on February 7, 1996, spanning 64 episodes until its conclusion on November 19, 1997. This was a SUBSTANCIALLY lower run time in comparison to its counterparts and predecessors. Which can be explained simply by its overall underwhelming rating from IMDb.

Was this because the world wasn't ready for this level of genius? Our parties say no. Speculation insists it was because the very essence of Goku and his friends was destroyed by making them younger, inconsistent and incoherent. They weren't inspiring or relatable. Many outside sources and ratings all agreed on one thing, nothing made sense in DBGT. Which brings us to the argument of why DAIMA is a bad idea. Based on released art, we can infer that in DAIMA, TA has elected to reduce the age of the Saiyans yet again. This changes the very nature of the series, heroes and diminishes everything that they (the characters in the show) worked for. For our attentive fans reading this, do we really think that the "Prince of all Saiyans" is okay with being reduced to nothing more than a mere child? As he would say, "is this some sort of sick joke?". Many people would agree with that statement as cited below. These comments range from dislike towards DAIMA, to how it is tearing fans/community apart. Simply put, that isn't very "Goku" of anyone. Those who do like the idea explicitly say blurbs along the lines of "that isn't where I'd take the story" or "that wasn't what I was expecting". In marketing, this can mean intrigue and increased revenue but if the story falls short of expectations, it ends up being exactly like DBGT.

Whether the opinion is that DAIMA is good or bad, one thing is for sure, it is tearing the community asunder. The question then arises, what can we do to stop the conflict, hate and overall dismay that this situation has caused. Unfortunately, we don't have Dragon Balls on this planet to fix our issues, however we can still make a wish (through the form of a petition). Which brings us to our final point. Please finish what you started.

That rule is something that we hear all the time from our parents, "finish your vegetables", "finish what you start", and "don't pick a fight you don't intend to win". They all have the same meaning, which we are applying to this situation. We collectively understand the want for new content, we understand the need for capital and ratings but are we not the ones who pay that price?

DBS has not finished; in fact, the timeline has now been partially destroyed. For those who have seen "Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero" you will notice that Trunks and Goten have "magically" aged. That is because, that is the last chapter of the manga. We miss their high school experiences and adventures along with them growing into the young men we see in the movie. Though spoilers are not fun, we still implore you to look at this Wikipedia page that outlines the story arcs. In there you will find that the "Tournament of Power Saga" ends on chapter 42, and "Super Hero Saga" begins on chapter 90. Meaning, that we are missing 48 chapters of content in the anime series. That's nearly half of the content, indicating that they have no intention of completing DBS. Which means that TA hasn't even finished half of their meal before demanding dessert! Again, not very "Goku" of them. How can we collectively support a new version of Goku when those in charge don't know / care about what it means to be Goku? Nor do they care about our beloved Prince, as he has a never-before-seen transformation that rivals his counterpart's newfound instinct. How could any of us say that we wouldn't want to see that? How could any true DBS fan say that they would rather see children than that. There are additional enemies that challenge their power and continue to push them to greater heights (and yes, even perfection of those heights). The writers are not to blame, as you can see, they wrote the story. It exists. TA refuses to acknowledge it. There are so many more arguments to be made towards continuing the anime series "Dragon Ball Super", we apologize that we cannot cover them all in this petition. Now, let's get to the conclusion.

This petition is purely asking to continue DBS, we are not asking to discontinue DAIMA. As fans, we expect the due respect that we deserve. We are the ones who tell you what we want, not the other way around. Together, let's collect those Dragon Balls, summon the dragon and make our voices heard. We are not pawns in your marketing game and we will stand together against even the worst odds. We are not mere comments on the internet to brush aside, we are worth more than the sum of our parts, energy and voices. We are people, the People of Earth. Please lend us your feelings by signing and we will prevail.

Thank you for your time and we hope that you will support our cause.
