Allowing businesses to open their stores at all on Thanksgiving day is unacceptable. Thanksgiving is a family holiday, not a consumption race before a long and stressful work shift. The psychological impact of being torn apart from your family, whether you are forced to work or feel pressured to shop, is something that cannot and should not be ignored. How frustrating will it be 10-15 years from now when your child says they cannot attend Thanksgiving with you because their boss threatened they'll lose their job? Your consumerism today is your frustration tomorrow. There needs to be a written law keeping any store from opening before 1am on Black Friday. I say 1am instead of 12am because the employees are required to arrive early for work.
