Homefield Road is a perfect parking storm 1) Along the odd side of the road the houses all have personal drives. (a couple with double) 2) There is a school in the road and the parents and staff park here 3) On the even side of the road there is lots of student accommodation, the landlords are mainly absent. 4) There is a doctors surgery in the road who do not have any parking facilities 5) We are close to the high street and workers in the shops have no where to park 6) We are close to the Hospital 7) We are one of the last free parking areas before central Exeter 8) Mont Le grand area have parking restrictions in place and we operate as an over flow for those residents and their guests. This situation does not just effect Homefield Road and the roads that lead of it, it effects or will effect everyone who lives in walking distance of Homefield Road as the knock on effect will be considerable. The situation has recently worsened, this we believe is due to the Wonford area of Exeter having gained some sympathy from their local councillor and Wonford resident Olwyn Foggin. Cars are regularly left by people for weeks on end, individuals bring bikes in their cars, park and then ride into Exeter thus avoiding car park charges.We have seen people park in Homefield Road and taxi's come and pick them up, presumably going to the airport and avoiding the car park charges. Even if you have a drive you will be effected, it's a community issue, and ultimately one that will effect the market appraisal of your property. The city has a problem with parking, high prices, an inefficient park and ride and the streets with no resident scheme are paying the price. If you are a resident in a street in Heavitree or Polsloe area of Exeter then you need to sign this petition and be part of the consultation .
