To The General Secretary of the Society for Arts and Social Sciences,

We, the undersigned, propose and agree that the following amendments should be made to the constitution of the Society for Arts and Social Sciences:

s 4.1 be changed from:

4.1 'The Society may become an affiliated Society of the ANU Students' Association (ANUSA). Whenever the Society is so affiliated, all relevant provisions and regulations of the Constitution of ANUSA apply to the Society.

to

4.1 The Society may become an affiliated Society of the ANU Students' Association (ANUSA). Anything in this Constitution which is inconsistent with the ANU Students' Association Clubs and Societies Regulations is null and void to the extent of inconsistency.

and

Part 22 be changed from:

22.1 The Society may be dissolved only by a resolution approved by at least four-fifths of members present at a general meeting.
22.2 Notice of such a meeting must be publicised to all members at least two weeks before the meeting and must include notice of motion to dissolve the society
22.3 In the case of the Society being dissolved, any excess assets, property or monies remaining after all debts are paid shall not be distributed among its members but shall be given or transferred to the College for safe keeping for the purposes of the creation of a student representative organisation with similar aims to that of this Society.
22.3.1 However subsequent to a possible affiliation with ANUSA any excess assets, property or monies which the Society received from ANUSA and not from CASS shall be returned to ANUSA

to

22.1 The Society can be dissolved by decision of the current membership at a general meeting or when the Society ceases to operate due to no members being elected to the executive/trustee positions and the Society ceasing to function through natural attrition. In the case of the Society being dissolved, any excess assets, property, funds or money remaining after all debts and liabilities are paid shall not be given to members but shall be given or transferred to the ANU Students' Association.

We agree that there is a need for the General Secretary to take the necessary steps to make these constitutional changes for the good of the Society and its members.
