Consolidation into one English Game and Level Design group for summer semester
To the Administration and Faculty of LaSalle College,
We, the undersigned students of the 3rd semester, hereby petition for the consolidation of all English 3rd-semester groups for Game and Level Design into one cohesive unit for the upcoming summer semester. We believe that such a merger would not only benefit us as students but also streamline operations for the school and teachers.
Benefits for the Administration/Faculty:
- Easier Organization: Combining all English 3rd-semester groups into one class would simplify scheduling and organization for the school administration and teachers. With only one class to manage, logistical challenges would be significantly reduced.
- Solving Teacher Shortage: Consolidating schedules would alleviate the issue of teacher shortage. As for the issue of having too many students for one teacher, we suggest adopting the same structure as our final semester where we have one course with many teachers.
- Improved Communication: Having a single group would facilitate communication between teachers and eliminate confusion. This is particularly crucial given previous instances of miscommunication, such as during the game jam last semester.
Benefits for the Class:
- Preferred Schedule: Many students are eager to switch to the morning schedule for various reasons, including part-time work commitments, maintaining a healthy school-life balance, and prioritizing mental health. A merged class would allow for the adoption of a single, preferred schedule, accommodating the needs of the majority.
- Uniform Learning Experience: Consolidating groups would ensure that all students receive the same content, eliminating any perception of one group being more advanced than another. This fosters a sense of equality and inclusivity within the class.
- Enhanced Networking: A larger, unified group would provide students with greater opportunities for networking and collaboration. Interactions with a diverse set of peers would enrich the learning experience and facilitate mutual support and assistance.
Benefits taken from personal anecdotes:
- Improved Social Dynamics: Merging groups would enable students to interact more freely with classmates from previous semesters, fostering stronger social bonds and reducing division within the class.
- Enhanced Collaboration: Many students have established relationships with peers across different groups and are keen to work together. A merged class would facilitate collaboration with trusted colleagues, promoting a more enjoyable and productive learning environment.
- Flexibility and Focus: A single schedule would afford students more time and flexibility to focus on their studies and personal development, whether it be extra classes, portfolio building, or pursuing individual interests.
In conclusion, we believe that merging all 3rd-semester groups into one class for the summer semester would yield numerous benefits for both the school and students alike. We respectfully request that our petition be considered and implemented for the betterment of our academic community.
Thank you for your attention and consideration.
Sincerely,
The English 3rd semester Game and Level Design students
