Any normal human being would've done the same exact thing!!! Our justice system is a complete failure!!!

this man should not be held on $300,000 bond. a pet is like family and I would have done the same.

Please dismiss the charges against Mr.Bassett as he did what any normal American who loves their pet and best friend would do..try to save them. Hitting the officers restraining him was instinctual during that traumatic moment and certainly not an intentional meaning to harm them but to get to his dog and best friend. Please reduce the bond (which is exceedingly high for the charge) and reduce the charge to misdemeaner. Mr. Bassett has lost everything important to him. Perhaps that dog was his only salvation from PTSD and time in Service. It is no wonder he desperately tried to save his dog. Please have Mercy on Mr. Bassett.

Mr. Bassett's home was burning, and his dog, a member of his family was trapped inside. Have a heart!

Drop the charges ... this is ridiculous. Anyone who has a pet and a heart would have tried to rescue it under these circumstances.

What part of veteran trying to save his dog isn't clear?

This man reacted during a profoundly traumatic experience. The police person suffered minor scrapes while trying to protect and serve. That should be the end of it.

I would have done the exact same thing. If my baby would have been burning up in the house you better believe I'm running in after my daughter!!!!! If someone wants to run back into a burning house that should be their choice not the officer whom evidently never has had a bond with a K-9 to know that bond.
Might be the officer job but I would have fought to get to my baby too. And being in trauma from house being on fire and trying to get to his baby my heart goes out to him as well as the police officers as both sides needs prayers. But, for the charges should be reevaluated.
