Please carefully consider the dire needs of widows when considering new tax cut plans. Widows are being driven out of their homes with riding expenses in the face of limited resources such as social security and small pensions and savings. Property taxes keep rising so much faster than fixed incomes Vin addition, elderly single widows are having their social security taxes at the floor of $25000 in the test of other income plus half of their social security while social security of married couples is not taxed until the $32,000 floor yet it cost the same for running a household in terms of mortgage, taxes, utilities, insurance, and maintence whether there is one person living there or two. This results in widows being forced to sell their homes to survive and when that income is gone having to move into government subsidized elderly housing which causes depression and a sense of powerlessness to elderly widows who worked so hard and were productive during thei long working lives. People paid income tax on income when social security was deducted from their earnings so why is it being taxed again when social security payments are made to the elderly. Medical costs are soaring. Widows cannot keep up.when someone all of social security is taxed, widows are incurring tax bills much higher than their meager income allows. Please do not forget those who can no longer work due to age related health limits even though they would love to do so. We are really suffering by the rising costs of living including real expenses such as heat and food and medical care. We need your help in allowing this class of people to maintain their dignity during the golden years they must endure. There is not much golden about aging especially when you can't afford to live and pay necessary living expenses.
