Too close to beautiful unspoilt coastline, and damaging to marine life

Wind turbines destroy the environment, hike up energy costs and are useless at reducing carbon since they produce so much of it in their production. Their only shameful function is to make investors richer and allow for carbon trading.

Wind farms are a financiers harvest. The basic renewable resource are the revenues generated from the public in terms of electricity bills and taxes. The promoters completely neglect the negative fallout, the effects on revenues from tourism, the 20%-30% loss on property values, and other quantitative elements. Windmills are not really effective because the excess electricity they generate can't be stored. Effective utilization requires connecting windmill farms to complex grids that transfer excess energy to other locations. Such grids would only further spoil the landscape and are currently unaffordable with costs in the hundreds of millions of Euros. Perhaps most importantly to those that truly love the land of their forebears and of their children and of children to come, supporters of wind farms act in complete ignorance and disrespect of the immeasurable beauty of the landscapes and picturesque countryside they destroy, without concern to the destructive effects they have on wildlife.

It would be a shame to build an offshore wind farm in this area just 3 kilometers off the coastline. The negativ impact on landscape and tourism will be much much greater than the economic and ecological benefit from for the wind farm.

I lived in this area and planned on returning when I retired. This plan is now destroyed as the beautiful peaceful environment is now destroyed by huge noisy flickering industrial wind turbines. Why is this Government and Galway County Council trying to destroy our local environment forever. This is treacherous and should be stopped immediately.

I'm fed up with sick minded, profit addicted investors who manipulate people, giving them false or incomplete information just for their own benefit while destroying nature and harming people's health. If you do study independent researches on wind energy you will find out that it's not an alternative form of energy - it's a money machine. In Germany the results already show that wind energy is inefficient. Coal and gas power stations have to be used to bridge over when the wind level is too low for the wind turbines to produce enough power. Protect Ireland and especially Connemara from this madness !

Our family home in West Clare (Ireland) is surrounded on three sides by sites on which planning permission has been granted for 33 turbines 146m high. We feel your pain.

I know this and many other beautiful, wild areas of Connemara well. I am appalled that anyone with a milligram of respect for the ever-diminishing unspoiled areas of my country would contemplate such desecration. Clearly these people have none.

People of the area...fight with all your might to ban these things. Where I live they put up hundreds of them not far from us. They are UGLY and will put a permanent blight on the beautiful landscape there.

Fight with all your might to stop this madness in its tracks. I will never understand why people want to destroy such beauty. PHILISTINES! They're an absolute eyesore to behold.

The people at Enerco never cease to amaze. Shame on them!

A moratorium on all Wind Developments until full research and legislation is put in place to protect residents. Guidelines are just that and are outdated.
