Stand with the Concord Hills Tenant Union: Don’t Put Residents on the Street this Holiday Season!
The Concord Hills Tenant Union fight continues. For the past 3 months since their displacement from their homes—caused by a fire then worsened by mass burglaries and vandalism—these Hartford residents have been told that their apartments will be ready for move-in “in two weeks.” New York-based Greyhill Group, the millionaire investment firm who owns the building, has missed deadline after deadline for the repairs, while pressuring tenants to break their leases early. They are hoping that tenants will give up and move on, allowing them to rent out the apartments for higher prices and further jacking up the cost of rent for all Hartford tenants.
Now, Mayor Arulampalam’s administration has informed the displaced residents that they will be evicted from temporary housing on December 10th—two weeks before Christmas, and without the apartments being repaired.
If the Mayor doesn’t take action NOW, 23 families will be homeless this winter–including infants, children, elders, and people with disabilities.
Let Mayor Arulapalam know: his administration MUST extend temporary housing for residents until the building repairs are finished and tenants can move back home.
