This petition speaks very respectfully and eloquently about the concerns many have regarding the potential future direction CATTE wants the profession of athletic training to travel. I hope that these concerns are heard and quite honestly, truly contemplated as there are so many consequences (many of which would be negative and detrimental to athletic training) should these directives become reality. I support this petition and hope the brakes will be placed on the timeline for implementation to allow a truly open discussion to take place within the membership, education program directors, and CATTE.

Did you take advantage of the open comment period on these standards? I hope so, otherwise you aren't actually using your voice.

This petition raises big concerns. I would like to be better informed prior to this curriculum going through.

Unanimous vote from NATA, BOC, CAATE, and Foundation in favor of the change to the MSAT - read the NATA News and you will see that.

Please provide your qualifications and what exactly you want to talk about? This mindless banter helps no one. If you have something helpful to say then please be specific.

And what exactly are those realistic changes?

I agree with the transition to a masters for entry level practice, but do not support the changes to the competencies presented. There is room amongst our curricular models for advanced practice degrees (DAT, Residency, etc.)--these proposed changes do not support entry level practice.

Just what is wrong with the world today. People without experience making changes in areas that they have limited knowledge in. Advancing the profession is probably what athletic trainers need to finally be recognized by other professions; however, these changes have crossed the line to different professional responsibilities that require a lot more training, time, and resources to become proficient in. We need more REALISTIC changes.

We have got to get CAATE under control. It is a run-a-way bus that isn't looking after out profession.

Yup, I do not like the changes proposed by CAATE and have opposed them since it was announced.

The move to an entry-level masters makes a lot of sense, but turning them into a Doctor of Athletic Training in 2-3 years is impossible. This reads as if they are trying to start a new sub-field of medicine. A student can choose to be a radiologist, surgeon or an athletic trainer?

It seems that the current system of triage on the field followed by advanced procedures in a medical system is working effectively. Why go and change that? Doesn't this new proposal being up an increased amount of liability and legal action against ATs if it were implemented?

Very well written and respectful. I believe this encompasses many educators. Moving forward and developing masters content it is difficult to build as guidelines and proposals are vague.

The decisonmakers of NATA need to add some transparency to their actions. It is not clear who decided, who voted for and who voted against the ELM decision. The next dominos to fall and how the educational process unfolds is in a muddle and needs some clarity from the NATA leadership.

NAPA leadership and CAATE MUST be responsive to their membership and the students they represent.

I couldn't agree more with this petition. I feel some of standards stretch scope of practice and good have a negative impact on our profession

Please take into consideration that the AT already has established scope of professional demands set forth by the NATA. To expand these requirements without due justification is in emcee making an AT perform a physician's duty without the pay or compensation.

I attended both CAATE sessions in Baltimore. Very few of the Operational and Curricular Content Standards/Competencies were discussed. Many concerns were shared. Much more time should have been devoted to those meetings. I have questions for each of the groups who are part of the approval process. At what point are you going to respond to our concerns? When will someone collect and publish data from our stakeholders relative to the common skills required in an entry-level position? When will we begin to educate those who think that our skills as diagnosticians requires the same skills as MD's, PA's, PT's, Nurses, etc?
