The county only sees one thing.....$$$. They have no clear strategic plan for sustainable growth. They are very short sighted. The Matoca supervisor needs to go.

I did a job for a few months that required much driving all over the county. There were astonishing numbers of new homes going up, tens of thousands of trees gone, and many birds made
more vulnerable to nest parasitism by cow birds. No idea about impact on turtles and other critters, but the negative impact on birds is enormous. Will the county ever have enough houses? Asking for safer roads really is not too much.

Roads need immediate upgrading and we need cameras on ALL traffic light intersections.

Along with flooding I am concerned with the narrow roads especially Otterdale Rd where the narrow curved roadway has unforgiving ditches on both sides leaving no where to go when an oncoming vehicle crosses the yellow line. This road must be widened! Also, I have never claimed to be a tree hugger, but the amount of trees that are being cut down in the county to put in housing and other development is alarming. Cutting down so many trees only makes the flooding worse! In addition, while I applaud the widening of Otterdale near Magnolia Green; it is also a stretch of road that often floods with only moderate rain. I had hoped that the flooding issue would have been addressed as the road was worked on, but so far it hasn’t (referring to road before Magnolia G. Heading towards Hull St.) Then just past Magnolia Green, heading towards Hull St. on the new section the drainage is so poor that it pools on the road. This is dangerous especially in the winter when temperature dip below freezing and ices up. This is a major road travelled by many motorists including new drivers heading to Cosby H.S. I hope all of these safety concerns are addressed and resolved.

Flooding/Road closures on two sections of Otterdale between Genito and Duvall have left 100’s of homes in multiple neighborhoods stranded with no ability to receive emergency services if necessary.

We live off of Watermill and the severe increase in traffic and noise is extremely concerning. It has also stopped residents from walking across Watermill Parkway safely due to traffic.

The whole 288 Hull Street corridor has become very dangerous! (I live off Deer Run and travel hull Street every day.) I agree that it seems that we have outgrown the current road systems, however we keep approving additional development. It needs to stop until they improve the roads and traffic flow!

Our roads in Chesterfield County are getting as bad if not worse (in some areas) than the city of Richmond, which is experiencing horrible maintenance due to use of funds stupidly. I don't want this to continue. If it does i will be moving out of the county and will work elsewhere. I already refuse to go downtown. Please don't have me refuse to stay in Chesterfield county due to oversight and hunger for money. Thank you

This is a resubmit of a petition regarding the concerns of roadway safety in our region and how it will be addressed by the Chesterfield County Planning and Transportation Departments. If you already signed the previous petition, then your voice is already part of the effort to provide our concern for the roadway safety in our region.
We currently have less than 100 signatures on this petition and still need to show Chesterfield County that we are serious about these issues and request addressing them. Think 300 !!!

SIGN THE PETITION!!
Currently approved, proposed and future development projects have and are anticipated to greatly impact the existing road infrastructure and traffic safety associated with County-approved development permits.
The signers of this petition request a public hearing, with Chesterfield County staff and elected officials, to discuss concerns about these impacts to existing road infrastructure and traffic safety.
We request to be presented a full plan for how the impacts of existing, newly approved and future anticipated development projects are designed to either improve access to the development with minimal impacts to existing road infrastructure and traffic safety and/or how these impacts will be mitigated.
There are also access and safety concerns regarding the occasional flooding and road closures that can be experienced on our roadways. This is not only inconvenient for residents’ access to their homes and families, but also for access of emergency vehicles to service issues within the road closure area.
We need at least 300 signers on this petition to provide sufficient pressure on the county to take our concerns seriously.
