Our children will be working in the artificial intelligence revolution, and they will see many jobs today taken over by "AI". In this new age, communication will be the most important skill to have. CBE needs to be forward thinking and consider that if Calgary is to survive in the future, it has to be relevant to the rest of the world.
If Calgarians are left behind because of a deficient ability to engage with the major economic powers, then the CBE would have to shoulder the blame if it takes steps to kill the program by moving it North. The Mandarin program shouldn't be considered the equivalent of a whimsical "wood work elective" (governed by traditional policies on enrollment/staffing), but should invest it in to ensure it survives for the good of Calgary's future with a firm understanding of what the future is going to look like and what it means for our children.

.. and consider what does this mean from an educational point of view. In this new world, does it make sense to continue with traditional models of education? If the South Mandarin program is killed by moving it North, when the fourth industrial age is upon us we would all say "we told you so" and the CBE would take the blame because it made the decision with full knowledge of the facts.

The Mandarin Bilingual program in Midnapore School has been building up and growing in the last 5/6 years. The momentum/ the hardwork that goes into the success of this program is just starting to blossom and it has become part of the SW community. Our children needs a stable and consistent school environment for them to focus on learning. Please reconsider the expansion of this program in the SW. As the current option is not feasible for parents, nor busing distance/travel time, unnecessary stress for kids (such as (1 example) emotional - for not getting to graduate at Midnapore school where they have been mislead) , nor the viability of this program. I understand there is staffing and space issues, we would like to discuss them specifically to Midnapore school. We would like to see our kids stay in Midnapore school. Regards,

Please keep grade 5-6 mandarin program in the South.
