Kansas City Power & Light (KCP&L) is constructing a 345 kilovolt electric transmission line connecting the Iatan Generating Station located in Platte County, MO to the Nashua Substation, located at Highway 169 and NW 132nd Street in Clay County (the utility refers to this as "The Project". KCP&L has proposed "Line Segment 62" as a possible route for the Project. The construction of Line Segment 62 would require KCP&L to purchase (or take by eminent domain) a significant amount of private property from private land owners throughout Platte and Clay counties. The construction of Line Segment 62 requires the permanent placement of unsightly "H-Towers" along the route, which will forever damage the appearance and value of the properties located on or next to Line Segment 62. KCP&L has proposed other possible routes for the Project which each rely on a more direct route from the Iatan Station to the Nashua Substation. These proposed routes would require the use of fewer towers and would affect fewer land owners. WE THE UNDERSIGNED, ARE IN OPPOSITION TO LINE SEGMENT 62. WE ARE IN AGREEMENT THAT THE CONSTRUCTION OF LINE 62 WOULD CAUSE IRREPARABLE HARM TO LANDS OWNED BY OUR FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS, AND WE FIND THIS UNACCEPTABLE. WEA RE IN AGREEMENT THAT IT IIS IN OUR BEST INTEREST, AND IN THE BEST INTEREST OF OUR FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS, THAT WE OBJECT VIGOROUSLY TO AND DEFEND AGAINST THE CONSTRUCTION OF LINE SEGMENT 62 AND ANY ATTEMPTED TAKING OF PROPERTY BY KCP&L FOR SUCH PURPOSES.
