Composting on Campus

University of Regina students believe that composting facilities should exist on our campus!
A composting program at the U of R would divert significant amount of waste from our landfill and decrease greenhouse gases emissions. Waste audits on campuses across Canada estimate that 20-29% of waste on campus is organic materials that could be compostable. Many university campuses across Canada have implemented composting programs successfully and we could do the same. A composting system would significantly reduce the environmental footprint of our campus.
I believe that a comprehensive composting system would enhance our facilities and create a more sustainable university environment. By signing this petition, I request that the University of Regina begin the planning and implementation of such a system immediately.
