Composting in the LSC

When we started the csu zero waste team a huge goal of ours was to spread compost accessibility across campus. There are so many food containers given to students in the LSC that are compostable but with no public access compost bins they end up contaminating recycling or just going to the landfill. We were successful across campus in aiding building administrations to start composting in break rooms & student lounges. For success we focused on education- how to keep the compost streams clean and the benefits of composting. When we would go collect the bins there was little to no contamination and we had to start picking up the 5 gal containers more frequently since people were using them more. The team has worked tirelessly to ensure that compost streams, education, & awareness spreads around campus. It has been too long that the LSC one of the most visited buildings on campus & distributors of compostable cutlery denies students the ability for front of house composting. As an alumni and co-founder of the csu zero waste team I will forever endorse CSU accountability to sustainability. I refuse to continue to see action only taken on paper about how sustainable the university is & not see action taken where it matters- in the busy hallways with students and faculty across campus. PUBLIC COMPOST ACCESS FOR EVERYONE ❤️

This is important, not everybody has access, especially when CSU is distributing compostable cups that end up in the landfill
