Now that Spring has officially sprung many people are taking advantage of the nice weather and going for walks/runs. Many people walk/run "The Loop" around Candor. "The Loop" goes through the village and along Route 96 back into the village.

Here's the problem: there is no sidewalk along the stretch of Route 96. The current sidewalk stops at the Cemetery where the Village line ends and the Town line begins. This makes walking to the ice cream store, firestation, & fabric store dangerous for pedestrians. Especially for pedestrians with children.

This petition will show that the citizens (and visitors) of Candor support the idea of completing the sidewalk along Route 96. This project is still in the early stages, but gathering signatures will help our chances of getting funding for this project.

Speaking of funding, you may be wondering how the new sidewalk will be funded. The Town is seeking grants from the State to cover the majority, if not the entire cost of this project. We will be discussing this topic again at the next Town Board Meeting which will be held on June 13th at 7pm. Anyone and everyone is welcome to attend the Board meetings that held on the second Tuesday of every month.
