Completing this section would add an essential piece of off road cycle trail, the route through Sheepwash is inecessarily lengthy, especially for someone wishing to walk rather than cycle, and the other option of the hideously dangerous main road is just out of the question.

Currently very dangerous and very hilly - this section is essential, not desirable. This is the only unsuitable part of the Devon Coast to Coast trail.

This would be amazing. A safe cycling route to take my little girl on in the future right from our doorstep

We live in Hatherleigh and currently have to put the children in the car and drive to Meeth when we do our weekly bike rides. Would love to set a better example and leave the car at home but just too dangerous at the moment.

This would really open up cycling options both into and from Hatherleigh as it would link us to the Tarka Trail through all the way to Instow! Current connections are unsafe even for an experienced adult cyclist - it’s a horrible twisty bit of busy a386, or a very long dogleg via sheepwash where much of the road is gravelly / running water covered and extremely slippery on the downhills and uphills.
It would make it possible to take my kids on long bike rides from home and I have no doubt would help the local economy too. Please do it!!

It would be great to open up access to the Meeth Quarries, Devon Wildlife Trust from Hatherleigh for all the families and for Hatherleigh School.
The proposed route would open up possibilities for travelling to work, shops and community events as currently the road option from Petrockstowe or Meeth on the main road is too dangerous with the steep and bendy route up by Madewell and Fishleigh. The large number of huge lorries on this narrow road makes cycling and walking really dangerous . The proposed route would avoid this hazard.

Much needed boost to the safety of walkers and cyclists
