I am writing this complain letter because a recent resolution that EU passed related to ethiopia is partly baseless and targeted the Amharas ethnic group on no concrete evidence. On its motion under section "E" related to the recent government Crack down of innocent oromos the EU document presents the Amharas as the oppressors and the ogaden and oromo people as oppressed. The reality on the ground however is that the Amharas are the most oppressed people under the current ethnic based federalism. The Amharas are deliberately marginalized in the political, economic aspects of the country. Let see one by one. The tigrean dominated regime started to attack the Amharas and consider them as enemies from the very inception. Forexample, even though it is symbolic except the Amharas, all ethnic groups of ethiopia including the oromos send their representatives in the draft of the constitution. The oromos representatives were the main artitects the drafted constitution. The Amharas, the second largest ethnic group next to the oromos were deliberately left out from participation. As a result when the new regional boundaries are designed part of the the former Amhara historical places were scrambled by various ethnic gruops. In this regard many Amharas were forcefully included the tigrie regions. Following that the Amharas were imposed a new identity. I.e tigrie identitiy. The kids of the Amharas were forced to attend schools other than their mother tange. This is against the constitution of the FDRE (federal democratic republic of ethiopia) and the universal declaration of rights of childeren that ethiopia has signed. Alhough the people resented and regularly complain peaceful to the federation counsel, there voices because the tigrean dominated regime their voices are un heard. Although the constitution allows citzens of ethiopia to live any parts of ethiopia where they chose, the Amharas are frequently denied of the right. It is a common practice that the A

It should be corrected

I am highly shocked by the report of EU parliament regarding Amharan people. The Amhara people has never been oppressor as EU parliament declared. The Amharas are among the oppressed nations in Ethiopia. I can raise a case in point as follows: 1. The Amharas were deported from Gura ferda in SNNP by snatching their land and property. 2. The Amharas were also deported from Benishangul Gumuz by exploiting their property and land in recent years. This are some of the examples I have to show that Amharas are among the marginalized and oppressed people in Ethiopia.

I strongly disagree with your implication of the Amhara people in what is ailing Ethiopia. Please get your facts straight.

Let's be honest with ourselves please ! Seems like most people already forget the Ethiopian History in this short years. This is my question for the person who file this petition. Who is Mengistu Haile Mariam, the former Ethiopian President? If you know that answer, you wouldn't upset about why EU did mentioned Amhara people in the way they mentioned. So, take thing slow and look back to ward to History book. I'm Oromo and I do believe all Amhara people goes through tough time just as Oromo families and Oromo people. At this point, we need to look forward, stood with each other and fight for our people's freedom and hopefully bring equal justice for all of our countries citizens. We must NOT bring any divisiveness between our tribes now. This is NOT the time we single one group of people out and talk about their problems. We all in one boat because, Mengistu Haile Mariam, the former Ethiopian President fail to have equal freedom for all Ethiopia and TPLF came and done the same thing. Look all US elected official who held same office Mengistu Haile Mariam, the former Ethiopian President use to have. They all still leave in USA and they all still visiting their friend, relative, schools and the University they attend. Why Mengistu Haile Mariam, the former Ethiopian President left his country and leave hiding life? Had he done everything to equalize his entire citizen, his life maybe different from his current life. Again, past is past and everyone's job already in history book. Our nation can't afford to have any divisive conversation and you guys need to stop signaling out one tribe out of multi ethnic group and try to make talking point. EU people doesn't know what our citizen going through now. Having said that, EU people do know the Ethiopian History and they know which who's tribes was held power for decades. Ok? Their comments is based on past History of Ethiopia and no one should be disagree with EU on this point.
