I think this is completely unfair and you need to give the poor kids a break!!

That is so unfair as students have not been taught about some of the questions that came up on the exam and it is not fair if they lose marks for something they have not been taught.

Some exam questions were unfair as some of the keywords were not included in the GCSE syllabus.

Has anyone heard anything back from AQA, have they even admitted they were wrong or written a statement to confirm grade boundaries? I'm reporting them to the media as this is an issue that needs to be highlighted and altered! They cannot be allwoed to get away with this! Make as much noise as possible as this will not go away, each time I think I'm alightly calm, I think about my grade in August and get upset and angry all over again! AQA you cannot sweep this under the carpet!

a) As far as I'm aware, concepts which are to be the subject of "explain what sociologists mean by x" must be on the specification (that was a QCA requirement). Anomie is not on the spec. It appears on a glossary, but that is not the document that states KEY CONCEPTS to be taught. "Anomie" is a concept, not just a 'term', and if AQA feels it's key, it should have been in the spec. b) The Nelson Thorne -endorsed by AQA- again mentions 'anomie' only in the glossary (amidst many other words which are neither in the spec OR the AQA glossary!) c) 'Content analysis' is also NOT on the spec (neither the Studying Society nor the Mass Media topics). Again, it's a concept / method of data analysis and NOT just a term that is a subset of a wider concept to be thrown in the glossary. Indeed, the only viable place for it to be a subset is under 'qualitative data analysis', but that also is NOT on the spec. Given the effort invested by my students leading up to this debacle, can AQA please comment on why we shouldn't be joining WJEC instead?
