We, the rate payers and residents of Avondale Ballito (previously ward 6, now ward 21) and Ballito as a whole, demand that the necessary steps be taken by the KwaDakuza Municipality to comply with its duties in terms of Municipal Systems Act / the National Building Regulations and see to the demolition of the semi-built structure on the corners of Avondale Road / Joshua Close. The structure has been derelict since 2003 and presents a safety and health risk to residents - it is an eyesore and is inhabited by vagrants (there is no working sewerage to or safe structure to house them - they live in a shack on the property). Attempts have been made to get KwaDukuza to fulfill its duties since August 2014 and the people of Ballito have had enough of the excuses from the municipality. No pending litigation prevents the municipality from doing its prescribed duties as has been argued.

The momentum behind this building issue has reached a point where the municipality can no longer ignore our neighborhood. Call your ward councillor today and demand they prioritize the demolition of this derelict site. Post the petition link on your Facebook page and ask your neighbors to do the same.

Hi Johan - it belongs to a Themba Ndlovu fellow (I have his number if you want to contact him). One of the guys in the neighbourhood did try and talk to him about his selling price but apparently he wishes to hold onto it :(

Been there for years it's an eyesore and crimals use the shack this is an fact.it has to go. CRIME IT BECOMING A DAILY OCCURANCEin all the street around this house.
I live near this piece of land and have seen vagrants living in parts of the building and am concerned for my safety. Something needs to be done to demolish it
This place needs to go and it is time the DA stop asking for votes and do something about it! I for one will not vote for the DA if they cannot do what they need to do.
This is our biggest concern!

This has now become beyond a joke, that neither the owner nor the municipality will acknowledge wrongful practise, but I continue to thank you for all the effort you continue to put into this project. You will have my continued support.
