I agree, I support the strikes but think that lecturers should make more of an effort to give our essays back and keep us informed at to what is going on and what will be in our exams

I feel the petition is more about principal than profit as universities are already heavily marketised, bureaucratic institutions (I believe it is fantasy to think otherwise) and the point of receiving compensation is the acknowledgement of what these institutions have become. If they're demanding such high fees then the institution itself should be held accountable for compensating the students when its own bureaucracy interferes with learning. The grounds that compensation will not be given out due to the fact that graduation and examinations won't be affected is also missing the point - we're for an education, not to achieve a stamp of approval to show what we've done (getting a 1st or 2/1 would have a sour taste for me, knowing that I haven't even been taught a large portion of the course material). It is not about fighting lecturers in order to receive a payment but is about a mutual disagreement with the university institution and the way it is being run. Finally, once people are in a position where they have to pay and accrue a large amount of debt, yes, education does become a service.

I don't want to be on strike, I don't want you to lose lessons that i have spent years crafting.
But I also think calling for compensation is not great for the causes.
Please help out on the picket to show your anger and discontent with senior management. Don't bring it back to the money
