I am a resident here and it is unfair that we should paying for facilities we don’t have access too.

From the outset, there has been ZERO communication with Westwood residents. Prior to arrival, no communication was sent notifying residents of the reality of living in a construction site. I understand student housing is a very lucrative business and you're understandably trying to maintain a good reputation with the local universities, but the issue residents are discussing isn’t about a chaotic 4-day post-check-in, small noisy inconveniences, or the lack of gym facilities. As of today, Oct 1st, your statement from head office hasn’t manifested into reality on the actual site. Obviously, COVID presented a unique situation. We all are doing our best to live with certain perimeters. Since the lockdown, there was no communication from Mezzino about construction delays. As you say, even now, it will be light construction, but it’s obvious it will be weeks until completion. The whole front of the building is behind fencing, discovered as residents arrived to find no place anywhere to stop so we could unpack our cars. Parents were littered all over the area, blocking traffic and minding cars in fear of getting clamped. One parent even pulled onto the sidewalk out of frustration. Not the safety first set up for expecting a large group of people arriving. Since you are claiming that safety isn’t a concern, dismissing the giant cranes, flimsy fencing, and construction supplies literally blocking exits, can you then also guarantee students, especially the young female students, that the expensive equipment won't be an invite for burglary? Have all the workers hired by construction companies and their subcontractors been background-checked for potential offenders and incidents? Half the windows don’t even have blinds yet, maybe not the ideal environment parents envisioned for their young children. As far as amenities, if you’re now providing laundry services, this is brand new information to residents. It sounds like a lovely last-minute addition, but perhaps this

this is a disgraceful way to treat the residents

This post makes reference to unsafe living conditions at The Westwood. From the outset we apologise for any inconvenience caused to residents while final elements of the development are being put in place however we must strongly counter any comments that imply that the development is unsafe and that none of the facilities promised are available on site. The building is fully compliant with all safety regulations and has been signed off as such by municipal building control. Since lockdown the building contractor has focussed their efforts on delivering student bedrooms and shared living areas as a priority so that the tenants could move in and in recent weeks have shifted their focus to the building's amenities, public areas and landscaping. We acknowledge that the onsite Gym will not be opened until mid to end of October and apologise to all residents for this but unfortunately this was unavoidable due to time lost during government enforced shutdown. The laundry on site will be operational from next week however recognising this deficiency we have been providing a free collection and laundry service for all residents since we opened and will continue to do so until the laundry is fully operational. Outside of this all other amenity areas such as study room, residents games lounge, and cinema room are and have been fully operational since check in weekend We acknowledge that there has been some noisy work underway in adjoining areas on and off for the first 4 days post check-in (pavement in front of the shop and access to the Gym) for which we unreservedly apologise and acknowledge hasn’t been ideal given people are studying on line but we have been assured by the contractors that this heavy work is now complete and their activities going forward will be light in nature and only within the adjoining site. Building still under construction, facilities that were promised are not ready ie laundry , gym, cinema room. I have been informed of lights flickering on and of in some of the rooms which is extremely dangerous and a fire hazard. You advertised the top end apartments on your web page which I find misleading because the rooms on the lower floors are quite small, actually they are a better / newer version of Corrib but extremely more expensive. I think it only fair that the students are reimbursed or a discount on their monthly rent until this construction work is complete and the facilities are usable.

Feel incredibly unsatisfied that my daughter is living in there conditions

Company should be ashamed of ripping off students,no facilties whatsoever..when everything was advertised to be provided
