I am Nick Christophorou of Short Cut Barber Shop on 760 Holloway Rd, London N19 3JF. I have been in business at my present location for nearly 20 years and have an established client base. However the recent totally unexpected, unforeseen road closure of Holloway Road due to Upper Holloway bridge replacement works has hit my trade like an unwelcome bomb. I am unable to display my sandwich board on the pavement as I have done for years & many clients assume that I am not open for business. TFL should have given us local businesses some sort of notice of these works and I am totally at odds as to why this disruption should inconvenience us for nearly 3 months. In this day and age a quarter of a year to solve a minor replacement is absolutely ridiculous!! Surely TFL owe local businesses an apology and indeed some form of compensation for loss of earnings. I certainly see no reduction in my business rates from Islington Council. I would like to know who at TFL is responsible, as I would like to submit a claim for compensation and would urge other local businesses effected to do likewise. It is time for TFL to be accountable for their actions. I urge other local businesses to join my campaign.

Total lack of planning has reduced the area to a slow moving traffic jam, by the time the bridge work is finished there will be few businesses left in the area to benefit from improvements. TFL should compensate as businesses matching income to same period last year.
I have a business at 466 Holloway Road Essensuals Toni&guy salon unfortunately we have lost a lot of money through loss of clientele due to not been able to travel to as from Archway and Highgate due to the road closure. So unfair TfL and consul doesn't seem to care for the small businesses .
As an ex Small Business owner myself I can identify with Nicks predicament .. when one relies upon Walk ins... and Passing Trade .. to have this thrust upon you for months on end, can destroy your Business...and can take a serious toll on your mental health ... It happened to me... and almost crippled my Business...
I am co-owner of a fitness studio on Archway Road. Our clients have had a nightmare getting to us recently and I'm positive it's had a negative effect on footfall for new enquiries. I fully support businesses being compensated or having our rates refunded.
This government promised to help small businesses, Sadiq Khan needs to make sure TFL follow suit and compensate all the businesses affected by the poor planning of this road closure.
Shame on them.
This is totally unacceptable. These businesses that are the lifeblood of the comunity deserve better treatment.

Local businesses are precious and should be treated with respect. The works on Holloway Road are a disaster for everyone living lcoally- the increase in traffic and no doubt pollution, and businesses who have lost money as a result, need to be compensated.
