The First Annual Philadelphia Cheesesteak Festival, organized by Elite Event Management, LLC and administered by David Feldman, Kevin Baxter and others was grossly oversold (~27,000 attendees in the K-lot parking area of Lincoln Field). Tickets were sold for $20 (entrance only), $40 (entrance plus t-shirt and 10 vouchers for cheesesteak samples) and $60 (same as $40 package plus access to private dining area and zipline/mechanical bull rides). Because there were only 40-50 vendors all packed into the parking lot (700+ people per vendor), the lines were prohibitively long and slow-moving. It was impossible to use all of the food vouchers in the allotted time (11am-5pm), particularly when the event started late (approximately 11:20 am). The majority of the attendees were standing in long, snaking lines for hours...unable to enjoy the carnival section or any other events. The dining area was largely empty. Kevin Baxter, who identified himself as the marketer for this event has reached out via telephone to many disgruntled attendees, offering free tickets for next years event, but in the absence of knowing whether or not there will actually be an event next year, and seeing how this first year event went so poorly due to overcrowding, letting 27K people in for free next year will almost guarantee another overcrowding disaster. To that end, we the undersigned are requesting a full refund of the ticket price, including Ticketmaster fees.
