Demand Community Space for the Doddington & Rollo estate
Estates work best when there are safe communal places for people of all ages to meet, spend time and build the bonds that make a community.
The Doddington & Rollo estate in North Battersea is home to over 3,700 people and since it was built 50 years ago, residents have said there is not enough space on the estate for people of all ages to come together.
There are spaces like the old Activity Centre on the ground floor of Arthur Court and the void space above the DRCA which would make important community resources for the estate but which have been left empty.
Following two murders and numerous other troubling incidents in the last year, now is the time to invest in our young people and give the estate the community space residents have been crying out for for decades.
If you believe that communities are important and that we need to invest in our young people, sign the petition. The Doddington has waited long enough.

I am currently organizing the evidence regarding the vacant units at Arthur Court to present to the housing department. A formal meeting request has been submitted to local council representatives to discuss the conversion of these spaces. I expect to receive a response regarding their availability by the end of the week.

I’ve lived here for 49 years and remember the club house, youth centre and playgrounds for every block. Somethings no has to be done for our youth. Community space is vital
I live in Turpin House and our club room of our block was taken over by the cleaners so, we lost that. All the back park is used for behind our block is a gathering place for loads of noisy teenagers at all hours. Not their fault, as they have nowhere else to go.
I am a local councillor and also work with young people in Battersea. I see how much this community space is desperately needed - people need space to come together, organise activities, be stronger together. It would be a fantastic investment in the community to reopen it - and exactly what the CIL budget is for. Permanent youth workers are also needed.
I grew up across the road from this estate. There used to be youth work and spaces for young people. We need spaces for young people to meet toy more than ever now. The council need to re-think closing spaces for young people.
This is very much needed, all communities need spaces, and young people particularly need support. Let us also make sure that the community get access to this resource for free - we shouldn't be charged exorbitant rates to use our own facilities.
There is and has always been a shortage of Community space. There is no reason why C.I.L. C could not be used to rectify this appalling oversight.
This space needs to be put to good use! Especially now the garden has been brought back to life. Let's find the best way to do that.

How can we expect to tackle gang violence if young people have nowhere safe to go!! I don’t want lower council tax thank you Wandsworth BC; I want children to grow up in a safe and supportive environment.
