100% super Superintendent Gilpen; the Board needs to be fair and impartial…

I have seen Mr. Gilpin lead with patience, kindness, professionalism, and strong communication. He listens, responds, and remains steady even during difficult situations. Those qualities matter greatly in a school district, especially during challenging times. He does NOT deserve the threats he is receiving, period! During his leadership, Newaygo Public Schools has seen many positive accomplishments. In 2024, our community passed an important bond proposal that will benefit students and facilities for years to come. The district also faced a $1.3 million budget shortfall, and through careful planning and responsible leadership, that was balanced while only laying off two staff members. There has also been clear progress academically, along with major behavioral improvements throughout the district. Just as importantly, many staff members genuinely appreciate his leadership, vision, and commitment to moving the district forward. Leadership is not always easy, and difficult decisions sometimes must be made in order to protect students, staff, and the integrity of the district. It is important to remember that schools are required to follow Michigan law, board policy, and due process when handling personnel matters. Those processes exist for a reason—to ensure fairness and accountability. No matter where people stand on an issue, anger, bullying, personal attacks, and efforts to divide our community do not help our schools move forward. Our students are watching how adults handle disagreement, and we should model respect, civility, and professionalism. I encourage this community to continue supporting strong leadership, fairness, and the positive momentum happening at Newaygo Public Schools. Our community elects board members to serve the entire district—not personal interests, political alliances, or individual agendas. Ben is a strong school superintendent who champions education in every sense supporting students, empowering teachers, and engaging the community with integrity and vision. His leadership reflects a commitment to inclusive learning, thoughtful decision-making, and the belief that every student deserves the opportunity to succeed.

Superintendent Gilpin, do not let the few bad actors ruin what you have built at NPS! They are a minority and they are nobody’s. Do not allow threats and intimidation to win!
