This is a very scary time for the Jewish people - PLEASE support our students. Anti semitic hate and all other racist hate is unacceptable. We are fearful.

All students need to feel safe to learn and thrive. BUSD has a responsibility to call out hate speech and anti-semitism and to call on all students to respect and tolerate differences in background and in opinions.

I urge the school board to show leadership and solidarity with the Jewish community at BUSD by condemning antisemitism. As antisemitic threats rise on American campuses, it has to be named. Discrimination based on national origin should also be addressed.

While my (Jewish) child has not experienced this personally, I've heard that a classmate of hers has had antisemitic comments directed at him at BHS. Feeling hated by virtue of one's identity and unsafe at school does not reflect our Berkeley values.
