Community Letter of Support for School Resource Officers (SROs) in PSD Schools

The SRO’s are the first line of contact between students and law enforcement and should stay. They have positive relationships with most students and the thought that any street cop can pop in and solve problems is ridiculous. Community policing is proven to work and schools are just that, communities.

This program is very important for the safe learning environment for our kids and the future of our city

I support SRO's in our schools. These officers protect & educate our children. I very much value their presence in my daughters' school.

Keep SROs playing extreme politics with kids lives is wrong.

We have had 5 children go through PSD schools. Our youngest is a junior at RMHS. My children have had resource officers at all their schools from elementary through high-school. We have nothing but good experiences with these officers and they have contributed to the safety of my kids in more ways than I can mention. When my daughter was a sophomore we had an issue with sexual and physical harassment from a young man. They not only provided protection for my daughter and boundaries for this young man, but gave us peace of mind sending our child to school,

Please keep our schools safe!

The SROs are so necessary to keep our students/teachers safe! Please keep the SRO program.

I am born and raised in Fort Collins and I grew up with SRO's and I have some really fond memories with them through the years. Besides protection, they are friends to all of the students. They are mentors to the students. They are a listening ear at times for students that need that from time to time. Now I have a high school student and elementary aged student and I could not imagine them being in a school system without SRO's. It would be a huge mistake to remove them from the schools. Remember, it is not only protection they provide...there is so much more on the human to human level!

Everyone I have spoken to believes that SROs are important to protect the children from danger and to create a bond of friendship between the officers and the student body.

Our SRO’s are valuable assets to our kids and to our schools.

Removing our police officers from our schools will only make our schools easier targets and will remove the opportunity for our kids to interact with officers in a safe learning environment. The officers and kids both need this community connection.

Please keep my safety as a staff member, the safety of my fellow staff members, as well as, that of our wonderful children we care for daily, A PRIORITY. An SRO provides positive impacts. Positive impacts like instruction, support, and prevention. PSD community has choices of where to turn for employment and an education if we suddenly are without our SRO's. Don't make me choose. I want to stay working at my school!

Can’t believe parents would consider doing away with SRO’s, just crazy with all problems/issues occurring in our nation and state!

This absolutely should not pass! Our children need to be protected.
