Institutions of higher education should be doing everything they can to give back to their communities, especially if there are people ready and willing to do so.

It is such a wonderful experience seeing the development of beauty by the students of MICA. Not only are they learning about the different aspects of Baltimore City but we are learning from them. Art has been and will remain a life line to communication and I am honored to have had the opportunity to enjoy the creativity from the students of MICA. Students that are denied the opportunity to express themselves through art and to know how artistic they really are by attending MICA is a true dis justice to that individual. Please allow this program to go forth.

Baltimore needs creative and motivated efforts within the community. I personally work within the community and I think considering the community we live in as artists is incredibly important.

Considering how much MICA loves to boast about how great we are for the community, you would think they would approve this. Nope! MICA only cares when it benefits the school. This needs to change, hence my signature.

I have been longing for this concentration since Freshman year. I really wish MICA had more of an emphasis on Community Arts in its undergraf coursework. If it was a major, I would have majored in it!

I believe it is very important for a Community Arts Concentration to be integrated into MICA.
After having taken Finding Baltimore during the Fall semester of 2015 I am more than certain that community arts should be a concentration, and I would trust no one more than Paula Philips in creating it.
I know that many people at MICA want to work in the community, and a Community Arts Concentration would go a long way in helping them achieve that.

I took Paula's Finding Baltumore class this past fall and it was by far the most rewarding (and my favorite!) Every Wednesday I looked forward to engaging with the community and found an interest that I would really like to pursue further. I was disheartened to hear that there was no path in undergraduate studies to focus on community arts and would be absolutely interested in pursuing a concentration in it if MICA decides to approve one. It would be just another way that this awesome school could have a positive impact in Baltimore

Being in a school that is in the middle of a community and having an open Campus it only makes sense for us to have more community arts on campus.
