Guns are not needed nor ever will be in our community

This business would have no benefit to the local community. A gun shop should absolutely not be located near a school and park!

The level of knee-jerk reaction here is absolutely staggering to me, though it shouldn't be. It is priceless when citizens get together and decry "not in my neighborhood!", effectively impeding the very freedom that they purport to defend. Shame on you all. Shame on you for storming the pub with your pitchforks and torches - on a law-abiding private citizen. /s/ a gun owner, a Concealed Carry of Weapon permit holder, a retired veteran of the Armed Forces, and a voting resident of South Arlington.

I worship in the Nauck neighborhood each weekend and agree with the Nauck Civic Association that a gun shop is not a desirable business for the neighborhood.

If one Gun shop is good, I'd like to see two as competition keeps prices low. Delighted to see this new business opening.

Thanks for the heads up, looking forward to the opening! Do you have an estimated date? Will save me a trip out to Fairfax. Much prefer to spend my money in Arlington. It's about time 22204 had its own gunshop. Would be great if one of the garages on Four Mile Run could be converted to a shooting range.

I live in Rosslyn. A nearby pawn shop (at Lee Hwy and Spout Run) sells guns. Hasn't been a problem that I know of. "When seconds count, the police are only minutes away."

I grew up around guns and was a hunter al my life and not once did I use an automatic asault weapon to kill a deer or pheasant. If the gun lobby would makes some sensible consession anad regulate the people killer weapons I wouldn't have a problem with your guns, but guns DO NOT make us safer if just ANYONE can buy a gun. It seems to me that when you begin to attack our intelligence you know you are losing.

Terri, you show a true lack of exposure to, and understanding of, why I -- and millions of nature- and animal-loving world citizens like me -- hunt. I hunt for organic, free-range, natural, humanely and cleanly harvested meat. Not for pleasure. Not for bravado. Not for my ego. Then again, you may not want to understand. In which case, please continue believing what you want about whomever you wish. You'd be acting as closed-minded as any right wing bigot.

Why the irrational phobia? I would welcome such a store to our neighborhood. Guns save lives every day.

My feelings on guns in our community are not irrational, nor are they phobic. Do you watch the news? How can not you see the damage and death and destruction that guns cause in our world? Guns don't save lives- they are used to end them. Guns KILL people every day, innocent people and not-so-innocent alike. They are instruments of death. Full stop. The last thing ANY community needs is more damn guns.

I, for one, support civil rights. I think all ten rights found in the Bill of Rights are pretty great. I'm naturally therefore very disappointed in my neighbors here who are signing this petition, who not only disagree with the right to defend ones own life, but who would make sure that those who make this possible are driven from the community. I don't know what civil right this group will next decide is stupid, but when they do decide, I hope it is not you or I that are run out of town next.

I am a law abiding citizen. My dad, brother, and I have all served our country in uniform. Several of my fondest memories as a child were hunting trips with my dad, brother, and uncle. I am against gun violence. I am for peace. I support the constitution and every Bill of Right, including the second Amendment. Thus, I feel it is patently un-American to discriminate against a business and fellow Americans who enjoy their constitutionally protected right. You may not enjoy or participate in those activities, and that is your right. I respect that. I hope you will afford me the same respect and honor my right to legally and safely purchase and handle firearms for hunting and marksmanship.

There's this tradition at Drew when all our children go for a "Peace Walk" around the school at the end of school year. Do we really want them to pass by a "gun store" when they are walking for "peace"?

I don't live in Nauck but my child is a student at Drew. This seems like an idea that should be immediately rejected. Locating a gun shop this close to any school-let alone across from an Elementary school-is just foolish and irresponsible.

A gun shop is not needed, not welcome, and not in line with the priorities of our neighborhood. The residents of 22204 would prefer to see a business that can thrive and provide benefits to those of us who live here. Guns dont build communities- Guns tear them apart.

I would be very surprised if the condos owners were happy about living on top of gun shop. I 100% understand that guns are legal in VA, that doesn't mean that a gun shop doesn't bring down the quality of a neighborhood.
