Come on Nauck wake up don't wait until it's too late. Sign the petition if we don't tell care of our neighborhood who will?

I think it would be awful to have such a place in our community. We really are not out of the woods yet in our community as far as crime and drugs. Let's build and add something that we all can be proud of and enjoy as a community. If you are a gun lover that is fine but where kids play and have fun it's not the neighborhood to sell guns. There are plenty other places in the county that are for lease let them go there. Let's finally be proud to say we live in Nauck!

That is a terrible idea. Why don't they put it on the north dude of town? And why hasn't anything been done at 1912S Langley Street the property is an eye sore in our community .

I'm a a new resident and homeowner in the Nauck neighborhood. I believe that having a gun shop will not benefit the neighborhood.

The statistical correlations between guns and mortality are very much fact based. Sean Steele's dismissal of "assertions" is simply wrong.

I agree with the Nauck Civic Association Executive Committee that no true community benefits will derive from locating a gun shop in the Shirlington area. I have been a resident of Fairlington since 1976. I am opposed to having a gun shop located in the Shirlington neighborhood.

No to a gun shop

We have enough guns on our streets. I for one do not want a gun shop within walking distance of my home.

Have lived in the neighborhood for 44 years and can't imagine any community benefits of having a gun shop located here.

I agree with other petitioners that the presence of a gun shop in Shirlington is not the kind of business that residents of the nearby communities (such as where I live) would be eager to patronize. My own experience in living nearby for more than 20 years tells me that the vast majority of people in this area are definitely opposed to the sale of guns. I also agree that no community benefits would derive from having a store like this in Shirlington, especially few employment opportunities and certainly no socialization for the community..

I think there are plenty of other locations for gun shops - an eating and entertainment district that closed its jewelry shop 14 years ago does not seem the right place to sell guns.

Residents of the Nauck/Shirlington area have every right to speak out against the location of this shop. The same rights protect our free speech as those that protect the abusers of the original intent of the 2nd Amendment. This is not a debate about Wayne LaPierre's and the NRA's control of politicians--this is a simple, local debate about what kind of shop the neighbors want in their community. Virginia allows what--multiple gun purchases per individual a month--or some craziness the NRA has perpetuated. We all know where and how quickly we can purchase a weapon in the Commonwealth--gangs and drug dealers have been enjoying our open door policies for years--as well as law abiding citizens--so this shop doesn't have to be in the Shirlington Road area in order to succeed! Residents have every right to speak out against the location of this shop, just as 2nd Amendment abusers have every legal right to purchase guns of virtually every caliber. It's not a petition against guns--it's a petition against the location of a shop the neighbors don't want. Thanks.

The Nauck area use to be kind of rough and we are pretty much over that--we don't need guns to set us back

Virginia's dubious distinction as the source of most of the US's illegal guns is one I am not proud of. The NRA already runs the country, let's keep them out of Arlington.

Thank you, mebers of the Nauck Civic Association, for this critically important petition. As someone who worked with youth and families all her career no family-oriented neighborhood is the appropriate location for a gun store. Surely Mr griffin can find more a lucrative business to occupy the property.

The last thing that we need in this area (or any area for that matter) is a gun shop. Stop the madness!
