The faculty senate ruled that professors can now assign a class during the common hour at their own discretion without prior approval. We the students request an ammendment to the ruling which would require the professor wishing to teach during the common hour to offer an alternate section of the same class at a different time, which does not fall during common hour, thus giving us the option outside of the common hour. If our appeal is denied, we request the ruling be reversed. Other campuses are fighting for a common hour that may be taken from us. The majority of clubs meet during common hour and it is the only time during the day that students can come together and socialize. Student Government Association is a strong advocate of increasing student activities which would be greatly impacted by infringing upon common hour. Use your student rights and petition to keep the common hour.
