let's not patronize our teenagers...they are more mature than we give them credit for...as a parent, it's important to open up a dialogue about subject matter that we may not feel entirely comfortable with, but make no mistake that it's already being discussed

It was on my reading list. It's staying there until I've gobbled it up -- hopefully in time for the March Canda Reads head butting!

To revoke this award would be unjust and myopic. Those trying to have the award recalled from Reid live in a bubble, afraid of the real world and ignorant of the challenges faced by young people every single day.

I wish I'd read a single book like this when I was young and queer.

Several book reviewers have panned this book, including Quill and Quire. Barbara Kay has been a book reviewer in the past and has taught English Literature at the post-secondary level. She is hardly a non-professional with zero credentials. I have to wonder if this book was chosen to fit an agenda in the first place. As the parent of three, I certainly would not want my 12 or 13 yr old reading a profanity laden book either.

I will not, in my lifetime, tolerate the steps the conservative government is taking to turn this country into a religious, fanatical state. You don't get to censor books on moral grounds. EVER.
