For those who live in Florida, we have been subject to multiple and confusing communications from COMCAST regarding the digital services that were going to replace the analog services of the past. At first we were told that if we wanted to receive the maximum number of channels available in our area, we had to install a Digital Transport Adaptor (DTA) on those specific televisions and we were allowed 3 DTA's at no cost. Any televisions without a DTA would only receive minimal channels. The installation was promised to be simple and easy but those that have had to go through the process, you probably have shared the hours of frustration. Recently, the televisions in our area that did not have a DTA installed lost all of their channels. The only way to receive a transmission was to install a DTA. When this happened, we were told that there would not be an additional cost for the extra DTA's needed. This proved to be false when the bill arrived. COMCAST charges $1.99 per DTA per month. So, In addition to paying for all of the services (TV, phone, internet, needed equipment, etc.) we the consumer are now being saddled with a mandate to rent the DTA's. Just another way for a big utility company to pass along more of their expenses to the consumer. This petition is being circulated so that COMCAST can hear the complaints of their customers. All DTA's should be provided at no cost to the customer as we were forced into this situation.
