It's absurd that the school is trying to flex its muscles and prove that they will expel and suspend someone even when it's not justified. All he said was an opinion. Thad did not threaten anybody.

Sticks and stones...
Nothing is to be gained from making "examples" of these students - there's actually no results to look at. One may argue justice has to be served, but if justice has to protect individual feelings then what on Earth is the point, people?

We need free speech, especially on a college campus. There are better ways to handle this insensitive talk. It was horrible but your choice in punishment was reactive, unproductive and frankly.... Scary! I don't want my children living in fear of speaking their mind. They did not incite a riot and now, the very thing you punished for will not be corrected. I hope you will fix this and in doing so, teach an important lesson about admitting a mistake, apologizing to these students and the rest of us followed by a more valuable and thoughtful resolution. There must be justice done but purposeful and within reason.

I feel as if this was a strong educational opportunity for our campus and the community we strive to create. Instead of turning this into a dialect, we shunned the people who needed the schools help the most.

To whom it may concern,
Thaddeus Knight Pryor has been one of my best friends for the past 4 years. He is a wonderful person who has myself along with others through many difficult situations. Occasionally he does make some crude jokes, as many young students do. However, I do not think that a 2 year suspension which effectively amounts to an expulsion is an appropriate punishment for such comments. He should be allowed to resume his education at colorado college as soon as possible. Thank you.
