Colorado College Yik Yak Punishments

CC has disappointed me several times over the last few years. First, they obliterated the longest running football program west of the Mississippi using the Lehman shock and the ensuing financial crisis as an excuse. Now, while I agree inappropriate and distasteful, they are basically exiling someone for a snide comment. A scarlet letter of the 21st century. I may not be the biggest doner but as my only leverage against the speech and thought police from an institution I used to adore, you may be seeing me relinquish my 1874 Society giving status...

I hope the CC Administration will handle this more appropriately. Class of 89.

As an alumni, based on the information provided I do not condone the actions of these two individuals, however, freedom of speech is a " Right" and CC needs to honor that as much as the institution may disagree. My donation for this year has been processed, pending the outcome of these two incidences may have implications going forward for any future donations

As an alumni, I would like to express sincere disappointment with the schools actions pursuant to this matter. I look forward to explaining to the next student who calls me during dinner asking for donations that I will NOT be financially supporting the institution until this is resolved, and I will recommend the same to the large community of alums I see regularly.

am an alumnus, class 1986 and a Alumni Reunion Giving Committee member, 1996, 2006 and 2011. I am embarrassed, disgusted and disappointed in the way this matter has been handled. T Pryor should be reinstated immediately and his this matter should be retracted from his CC record. I will also withhold any further financial support and cease volunteering for the Reunion Alumni Giving committee until Colorado College can demonstrate dealing with this matter in a way that befits an institution of Colorado College's "supposed" stature. As a CC alum I'm pretty stunned at this display of censorship. The administration's actions have severely tarnished my respect for my alma mater.

As an alumnus, this action as it has been publicized does not represent the school I attended and support.. Until some further resolution with reasonable due process is implemented, I am withholding any further financial support.

I am an alum- '82. My son currently attends CC in class of '18. I understand the administration's (and our collective) responsibility to confront hate speech. But Thad Pryor's youthful indiscretion does not rise to that level. I am also concerned that the protocol for adjudicating violations of the student code were not followed. I think it would be a miscarriage of justice if Pryor's suspension was allowed to stand. Hate speech is an ugly blemish on our society. It must be condemned and fought. But free speech- playful, youthful, derogatory- must be defended. Colorado College must not bow to the precious winds of political correctness in attempt to keep the campus a "safe place". No place in America is safe that doesn't uphold our constitutional guarantees. Please readmit Thad Pryor ASAP and expunge all charges from his record. Thanks you, Peter J. Vogt, '82

I will be withholding donations from my alma mater on the grounds of unreasonable censorship.

Beautifully and eloquently stated. I completely agree with Hendrickson and hope for the sake of Colorado College s reputation that major revisions are made to its free speech policy

Especially referencing a satirical post, free speech and due process should be upheld at CC. '15 Alum

This entire situation is so stupid. This is a man's life being potentially ruined over a snide comment on an internet chat. I don't even see what business the university has policing that. My employer doesn't fire me for trolling youtube comments on my lunch break.
