2nd August 2011 Fatal accident on A120 Near Little Bentley.

I was the second person to arrive at the scene of a horrific accident. The accident happened seconds before i arrived where the eldely couple Arthur Sarbutt, who was known to friends as Peter, 83, and his wife, Vera, 81, were killed when their black Hyundai Getz collided with another car near Little Bentley. The pair were rushed to Colchester General. But the couple, who had been married for more than sixty years, were pronounced dead shortly after arrival. They were crossing the duel carriageway when they were hit by a car carrying three adults and two young boys, who didnt receive serious injuries. This junction is so dangerous, even the police told me there have been so many crashes, and the council refuses to spend money to put in a roundabout. I reccomend the fast and cheap option by extending the armco barrier stopping people from crossing the duel carriageway to reduce the number of incidents on this section of road. Having spoken to both Arthur and Vera whist they were trapped in the vehicle, trying to comfort them until the emergency services arrived, i feel i need to do something in memory of them both. I was deeply saddened to hear that they both passed away shortly after arriving in hospital. I know they were parents to a son and daughter, and maybe even have grandchildren. This incident will sadly have changed many lifes. Please sign this petition if you agree to the change in road layout. This will be forwarded to the local council & road planning
