As a parent who has a skater, I have seen the life skills that it has taught her. She has learned to be supportive of others win or lose. With figure skating she understands that not everyone gets a medal.

It's one of the few places to ice skate in the Sugar Land/Missouri City area, for quality and reasonable prices. I personally have only been twice but I've always wanted to go more (Weak ankles!). Anyways, with it being one of the very few ice rinks in the area, its removal would prevent many children (and adults) from finding a hidden penchant for ice skating (in any style). Part of Sugar Land's bragging rights are due to the diversity of amenities offered within the community. New Arena? That's a money sink honestly. It's like building even more strip malls when previous ones hardly have life in them! It's a pointless endeavor to sacrifice the proven good locations and facilities to try and force growth. It impedes it more than furthering it.

I skated here for seven years of my life as a competitive figure skater. I was at the rink every morning before school and went straight there after school and was there practically twelve hours every Saturday. This rink holds a spot in my childhood and heart and always will! I love still getting to visit old memories and go skating Friday nights on occasion. It would break my heart to see this place go!

This rink saved my summer in 2012 by allowing me to volunteer and help around! It's one of the few rinks in/ around Houston, and I mean C'mon, the STARS ARE IN THE PLAYOFFS! Let's keep the ice and play some hockey and skate!

Losing the largest ice skating complex in south Texas will be a great loss to those who love hockey and figure skating. Didn't Tara Lipinski (1998 Olympic gold metalist) live in Sugar Land? The men's Novice Hockey League give many a chance to learn and appreciate the game and improve. Fort Bend County is estimated to be 2.4 million people by 2050 according to the State (now there are 0.68 million). Hockey is the most international of the pro sports, and with Fort Bend's diversity deserves to keep this facility as a unique part of southwest Houston's culture and entertainment.
